Day 2 Results Summary!

Rowing: Arjun/Arvind finished 3rd in Repechage round and through to Semi-Finals.

Sailing: Nethra finished 33rd and 16th respectively in Race 1 & 2 in Women’s Laser Radial. She is ranked 27th overall after 2 races. 8 more races to go. Top 10 after 10 races qualify for final.

Vishnu Sarvanan finished 14th in Race in Men’s Laser. Due to bad weather, race 2 got postponed.

Hockey: Indian Men’s Hockey team lost to Australia 7-1 in their second group game. They play Spain next on Tuesday.

Badminton: PV Sindhu won her opening group game comfortably. She defeated Israeli Ksenia Polikarpova 21-7 21-10.

Tennis: Sania Mirza & Ankita Raina got knocked out in Round of 32 in women’s Doubles.

Table Tennis: Sathiyan lost in Round 2 match in men’s Singles. Manika Batra won a really close contest. She beat 20th seed Ukranian player 4-3 and is through to Round 3.

Boxing: Mary Kom is through to Pre-QF in Women’s 51 kg. Manish Kaushik lost his Round of 32 match.

Swimming: Srihari natraj clocks 54.31s in Men’s 100m backstroke. He finished 27th overall. Maana Patel clocks 1:05.20 in Women’s 100m backstroke heats. She finishes 39th overall. Both failed to qualify for Semi-finals.

Shooting: 10m Women Air Pistol – Manu & Yashaswini finished 12th and 13th respectively in qualification.

10m Men Air Rifle – Deepak & Divyansh finished 26th & 32nd respectively in qualification.

Men’s Skeet: After 3 rounds of qualification, Angad is 11th & Mairaj is 25th. 2 more rounds in qualification to take place tomorrow.

Gymnastics: Pranati Nayak finished 63rd in All-around qualification. Her apparatus-wise rank was:

Uneven Bars – 69 , Balance Beam – 73 , Floor – 68


16:40 PM: Swimming – Srihari natraj clocks 54.31s in Men’s 100m backstroke. He finished 27th overall.

16:35 PM: Hockey – India lost to Australia 7-1. They were completely dominated.

15:35 PM: Maana Patel clocks 1:05.20 in Women’s 100m backstroke heats. She finishes 39th overall.

15:20 PM: Manish Kaushik loses his bout to British boxer Luke McCormack by a split 4:1 decision.

1:45 PM: Boxing – Mary Kom is through to the Pre-QF of 51 kg category. She beats Dominican boxer Garcia by a 4-1 split decision.

1:25 PM: Manika Batra is through to Round 3.

12:55 PM: Shooting – Day 1 of Skeet qualification is done. Angad Bajwa is 11th with a 73/75 score. Mairaj Khan is 25th with a 71/75 score. 2 more qualification rounds tomorrow and then the final. In Skeet, only 6 shooters qualify for final.

11:45 AM: Sailing – Nethra finishes 16th in Race 2. She improves her overall ranking after 2 races to 27th. 8 more races to go.

11:35 AM: Table Tennis – Sathiyan is out in Round 2. He loses to Honk Kong player Lam Siu in 7 games 4-3.

10:45 AM: Shooting – Both Deepak & Divyansh fail to qualify for the final of 10m Air Rifle event. Deepak finished 26th (624.7) and Divyansh finished 32nd (622.8).

9:35 AM: Sailing (Women Laser Radial) – Nethra finishes 33rd in Race 1. Race 2 is scheduled later. A total of 10 races will take place over next couple of days. Top 10 qualify for final race.

9:25 AM: Sania Mirza & Ankita Raina are knocked out of Women’s Doubles in Round of 32. They go down to the Ukranian pair of Kichenok sisters 0-6 7-6 10-8

7:40 AM: Badminton – PV Sindhu wins her opening group game at Tokyo Olympics.

6:50 AM: Shooting – Manu & Yashaswini finish 12th & 13th in Women’s 10m Air Pistol qualification. Both are out of the final.

6:45 AM: Rowing – Arjun/Arvind are into the Semi-finals of Lightweight Men’s Double Sculls event.

5:30 AM: Good Morning India. We are back with all the live updates from Tokyo 2020.

Indian athletes will be in action across 10 sports. Only 2 medal events on Sunday – both in Shooting!
