2024 is the year of Paris Olympics! And we have only 4 months left in the qualification period. Let us have a look at all the upcoming Olympic qualification events where Indian athletes will be vying for an Olympic quota.

We will take a look at qualification events sports-wise.

Archery

From an Indian perspective, only final individual and team Olympic qualification tournament is left. It will take place on 15-16 June in Antalya, Turkey. Olympic quotas based on ranking will be given based on World Ranking list as on 24th June 2024. Ranking points accumulated in 2024 World Cups will be crucial for Indian archers.

Artistic Gymnastics

2 qualification events left:
2024 Apparatus World Cup Series: 15 Feb – 20 April (4 events scheduled)
2024 Asian Championships: May 2024 in Tashkent

Pranati Nayak & Dipa Karmakar are the Indian gymnasts to watch out for from a qualification perspective.

Artistic Swimming

Only 1 qualification event left: 2024 World Aquatics Championship – 2-10 February in Doha. India does not have a realistic chance for qualification in this sport.

Athletics

This is a sport with loads of interest from an Indian angle. Athletes can achieve qualification standard in events scheduled till 30th June, 2024. The quotas based on World Ranking will be given out as per ranking on 30th June, 2024. Apart from this, 2 other events are scheduled for qualification.

2024 World Athletics Race Walking Championships: 20-21 April in Antalya, Turkey
2024 World Athletics Relay: 4-5 May in Bahamas

Badminton

Ranking will be based on World Olympic Ranking as on 1st May, 2024. Lots of BWF World Tour tournaments to be played in next 4 months.

Beach Volleyball

1 qualification event left: 2023-24 Asian Beach Volleyball Continental Cup – 13-23 June

Cycling

Track Cycling: Ranking list as on 15th April, 2024 will be used for allotment of Olympic Quotas.
Mountain Biking: Rankig list as on 28th May, 2024 will be used for allotment of Olympic Quotas. Other qualification events are over.

Boxing

2 qualification tournaments left:
2024 World Qualification Tournament 1: 29 Feb – 12 March in Italy
2024 World Qualification Tournament 2: 23 May – 5 June in Thailand

Breaking

2 qualification events left for Breaking: 2024 World Qualifiers Series in Shanghai (16-19 May) and Budapest (20-23 June)

Canoeing

Slalom: 2024 ICF Kayak Cross Global Qualification: 7-9 June in Prague
Sprint: 2024 Asian Olympic Qualifier: 18-21 April in Tokyo

Diving

2024 World Aquatics Championships: 2-18 February in Doha

Fencing

Olympic quotas based on Olympic ranking will be given on 1st April, 2024. Apart from that, Asian Qualifier will take place in April in UAE.

Golf

Golf qualification will be based on World Ranking. Cut-off date for World Ranking is 17th June, 2024 for Men and 24th June,2024 for Women.

Hockey

Indian Men’s team is already qualified. Women’s team will play Olympic qualifier in Ranchi between 13-19 January.

Judo

Olympic quotas will be given as per World Ranking on 23rd June, 2024.

Marathon Swimming

Olympic quotas will be given out at 2024 World Aquatics Championships to be held in February in Doha.

Modern Pentathalon

Olympic quotas will be given at 2024 World Championships to be held in China between 10-16 June. Remaining quotas will be given according to World Ranking list as on 17 June, 2024.

Rowing

2 qualification events remain from an Indian perspective:
Asian & Oceania Continental Qualifier: 19-21 April in South Korea
Final World Qualifier: 19-21 May in Switzerland

Sailing

3 qualification events in 2024:
2024 ILCA 6 World Championships: 3-10 January in Argentina
2024 ILCA 7 World Championships: 24-31 January in Australia
2024 World Qualifiers: 18-27 April in France

Shooting

4 qualification events remain for Indian shooters to qualify:
2024 Asian Shooting Championships (Rifle & Pistol): 5-18 January in Jakarta
2024 Asian Shotgun Championships: 12-23 January in Kuwait
2024 ISSF World Olympic Qualification Tournament (rifle & pistol): 11-19 April in Rio de Janerio
2024 ISSF World Olympic Qualification Tournament (shotgun): 22-30 April in Doha
Olympic quotas based on World Ranking will be given based on ranking as on 9th June, 2024

Skateboarding

Olympic quotas be to given on World Rankings as on 23rd June, 2024.

Sport Climbing

2 qualification events left: 2024 World Qualifiers Series in Shanghai (16-19 May) and Budapest (20-23 June)

Surfing

1 qualification events remains in Surfing: 2024 ISA World Surfing Games: 22 Feb – 2 Mar in Puerto Rico

Swimming

Indian athletes can achieve qualification standards by 23rd June, 2024.

Table Tennis

Team Event: Olympic quotas will be given at 2024 World Table Tennis Team Championships: 16-25 Feb in South Korea. World Ranking quotas will be given based on March 2024 ranking.
Mixed Doubles: One remiaing qualification event for Mixed Doubles: 2024 ITTF World Olympic Qualification Tournament to be held in March. Ranking quotas to be given based on ranking as on 7th May, 2024.
Singles Event: Asian qualifier to take place between 6-12 May. World Ranking quotas to be given based on ranking as on 18th June, 2024.

Taekwondo

2024 Asian qualification tournament to be held in China on 15-16 March.

Tennis

Olympic qualification to be based on World Ranking as on 10th June, 2024. Many tournaments scheduled in upcoming 5 months for Indian athletes to improve their ranking. Watch Out for Sumit Nagal in Men’s Singles.

Weightlifting

Quotas are given as per World Ranking. 2 ranking events left: 2024 Asian Championships (3-10 Feb), 2024 IWF World Cup (2-11 April). Ranking list to be finalised on 28th April, 2024.

Wrestling

2 qualification tournaments left: 2024 Asian Qualifiers (12-14 April) and 2024 World Qualification tournament (9-12 May)
