Road to Paris 2024: Shooting

Here is a look at the qualification system for Shooting. We will also keep updating this post as and when quotas are allocated over the course of next 2 years.

Shooting at Paris 2024 Olympics

The events at Paris 2024 Olympics in shooting is same as Tokyo 2020 barring one change. Instead of Mixed Trap event, we will have Mixed Skeet event. The ISSF is going to shuffle between Mixed Trap and Mixed Skeet event in alternate Olympics.

The 15 events scheduled in Shooting are as follows:

Total number of quotas to be allocated are 340. Each nation can field a maximum of 24 athletes – 12 Men and 12 Women. A nation can send a maximum of 2 athletes in each of the 12 individual events and a maximum of 2 teams in Mixed events. 1 athlete can only obtain 1 quota per nation.

Qualification System

The quotas for Shooting can be achieved through 4 different routes: 2 World Championships, ISSF Continental Championship, Olympic Qualification Championship and World Ranking.

Here is how quotas will be split across different routes:

2022 World Championship: 4 quotas in each individual event
2023 World Championship: 4 quotas in each individual event
Continental Championship: 4 quotas in each event to be given through Asian Continental Championships
Olympic Qualification tournament: 2 quota in each individual event
Olympic Ranking List: 1 quota in each event

Mixed Teams must be formed by athletes who have qualified in respective individual events.

Timeline for Indian Athletes to Qualify:

2022 Shotgun World Championship: 22 Sept -11 Oct – 4 quotas in Shotgun individual event
2022 Rifle & Pistol World Championship: 12-25 Oct – 4 quotas in Rifle/Pistol individual event
2023 World Shooting Championship: 14-31 Aug – 4 quotas in each individual event
2023 Asian Championship: October – 2 quotas in each individual event
2024 Asian Shotgun Championships: February – 2 quotas in Shotgun individual event
2024 Asian Rifle & Pistol Championships: March – 2 quotas in Rifle/Pistol individual event
Olympic Qualification Tournament: May-June 2024 – 2 quotas in each individual event
Olympic Ranking List cut-off: 9th June, 2024

10m Air Rifle Men: 1 quota
10m Air Rifle Women: 1 quota
50m Rifle 3 Positions Men: 2 quota
50m Rifle 3 Positions Women: 1 quota
10m Air Rifle Mixed Team: 1 team (since 1 quota each in 10m Air Rifle Men & Women)

Pistol Events

10m Air Pistol Men: No quota
10m Air Pistol Women: No quota
Rapid Fire Pistol Men: No quota
25m Pistol Women: No quota
10m Air Pistol Mixed Team: No quota

Shotgun Events

Trap Men: 1 quota
Trap Women: 1 quota
Skeet Men: No quota
Skeet Women: No quota
Skeet Mixed Team: No quota
