Thomas Cup and Uber Cup starts in Denmark from 9th October. Here is a quick preview for both tournaments:
Thomas Cup: Thomas Cup is the World Men’s team Championship. 16 teams will take part in Thomas Cup. These teams are divided in 4 groups of 4 teams. Top 2 teams from each group qualify for Quarter-finals.
Team India’s Schedule for Group Stage:
10 October – India v Netherlands
12 October – India v Tahiti
14 October – China v India
Team India for Thomas Cup: B. Sai Praneeth, K. Srikanth, Kiran George, Sameer Verma, R. Satwiksairaj, Chirag Shetty, Dhruv Kapila, M.R. Arjun, G. Krishna Prasad, and Vishnu Vardhan
Each match in Thomas Cup consists of 3 singles and 2 doubles match.
Uber Cup: Uber Cup is the World Women’s team Championship. Similar to Thomas Cup, 16 teams are divided into groups of 4.
Team India’s Schedule for Group Stage:
10 October – India v Spain
12 October – India v Scotland
13 October – Thailand v India
Team India for Uber Cup: Saina Nehwal, Malvika Bansod, Aditi Bhat, Tasnim Mir, Tanisha Crasto, Rutuparna Panda, Ashwini Ponnappa, N. Sikki Reddy, P. Gayatri, Treesa Jolly.
In 2018 edition of Thomas & Uber Cup, India was eliminated in group stage itself. Will we be able to better our performance this time around?
