Sports Calendar: June 2021

June is going to be an absolute crackerjack of a month for Sports fans.

Let us have a look at the Sports events in June.

Football: Indian Men’s football team will complete their 3 remaining 2022 World Cup 2nd round qualifier matches. Even though India is out contention for further progress in World Cup qualification, India needs to finish 3rd in group so that they can seal automatic qualification for the 2023 Asian Cup qualifying third round. So a lot riding on these 3 matches.

Bangladesh v India – 7 June 7:30 PM
India v Afghanistan – 15 June 7:30 PM

Cricket: It is a crucial month for Indian cricket as both Men’s and Women’s team go to England . The big event is the 1st ever World Test Championship Final.

India v New Zealand – 18-22 June

Women’s Tour of England

Indian Team is going to play 1 Test, 3 ODI and 3 T20s on their tour of England. Test and 2 ODIs are scheduled in June.

England v India – Test Match: 16-20 June

England v India – 1st ODI: 27 June

England v India – 2nd ODI: 30 June

Archery: Paris World Cup takes place between 21-27 June. There is also an Olympic qualification tournament in Paris on 18-19 June. Indian Women’s team is yet to qualify for Tokyo Olympics and will have their final chance Paris.

Tennis: 2 Grand Slams are scheduled in June. Along with this, Sania Mirza will be returning to competition during the grass court season. Here are the events scheduled for June:

French Open: 30 May -13 June: Rohan Bopanna & Divij Sharan will take part in Men’s Doubles.

Wimbeldon: 28 June – 11 July

ATP Tour Events: Stuttgart Open, Halle Open, Queen’s Club Championship, Eastbourne Championships, Mallorca Championships
WTA Tour Events: Nottingham Open, German Open, Birmingham Classic, Eastbourne International, Homburg Open

Shooting: Indian shooters will have their final tournament before Olympics in Croatia. ISSF World Cup in Croatia is scheduled between 22 June and 3 July.

Athletics: Indian athletes will have one final chance to achieve Tokyo Olympics qualifying standards at Indian Grand Prix 4. This event is scheduled to take place in Patiala on June 15.

Swimming: Indian swimmers who are hopeful of achieving Tokyo Olympic A qualification standard are expected to travel to Europe for 2 events – Serbia Open on June 19 and Italian Open on June 25.

Athletics Qualification Period Cut-off: 29 June
