First, here are the top sports news from April:

1. Ayush Shetty finished as the runner-up at the Asian Badminton Championship in Men’s Singles event.
2. Indian Women’s Compound team won Gold at the Mexico World Cup.
3. Harmeet & Yashaswini won the Mixed Doubles title at the WTT Feeder event. Sutirtha/Ayhika won the Women’s Doubles title at the same event.

On to the calendar for May:

Cricket

Men’s Cricket – The IPL will take place on 31st May.

Women’s Cricket – Indian Women’s Cricket team will travel to England ahead of the T20 World Cup for a 3-match series.

Badminton

The BWF World Tour will resume with events in Asia.

12-17 May: Thailand Open (BWF 500)
19-24 May: Malaysia Masters (BWF 500)
26-31 May: Singapore Masters (BWF 750)

Table Tennis

Here are the events scheduled on the World Table Tennis tour:

10-14 May: WTT Feeder Istanbul
15-19 May: WTT Feeder Lagos
19-24 May: WTT Contender Lagos
20-24 May: WTT Feeder France
27-31 May: WTT Feeder Kosovo

Tennis

The 2nd Grand Slam of the year will take place in Paris. Watch out for Indian doubles players like Yuki Bhambri at the event.

Shooting

2 ISSF World Cups are scheduled in May.

ISSF Shotgun World Cup, Kazakhstan: 4-10 May
ISSF Rifle/Pistol World Cup, Germany: 25-31 May

Archery

The second Archery World Cup of 2026 will take place in Shanghai between 5-10 May.

Fencing

In Fencing, the following events are scheduled:

22-23 May: Sabre Egypt World Cup – Male
22-24 May: Epee French World Cup – Female
22-24 May: Sabre Peru World Cup – Female
22-24 May: Epee Swiss World Cup – Male

Football

The Indian Women’s football team will be participating in the 2026 SAFF Championships in Goa.

2026 SAFF Championships: 25 May – 7 June

Indian Men’s team will take part in Unity Cup 2026 in England between 26 and 30 May. India, Jamaica, Nigeria and Zimbabwe will take part.

Weightlifting

2026 Asian Weightlifting Championships will take place in India between 12-17 May.

Athletics

The Diamond League 2026 season kicks off.

16 May: Shanghai Diamond League
23 May: Xiamen Diamond League
31 May: Rabat Diamond League

Additionally, the World Relay 2026 will take place in Botswana on 2nd and 3rd May.

Squash

2026 World Squash Championships are scheduled in Egypt between 8-16 May.
