2023 is about to end. We have had some amazing moments in 2023 from the Sports arena. So here are some of the epic moments from Indian sports in 2023….Let us know your top sports moments from 2023!

A World Champion in Athletics

India finally got its first World Champion in Athletics courtesy Neeraj Chopra. Neeraj won Gold at 2023 World Athletics Championship by registering a best throw of 88.17m

2 minutes 59 seconds of Euphoria!

The 2023 World Athletics Championsips threw another huge moment for India Athletics. Indian Men’s 4x400m Relay team clocked 2:59:05s in Heats to finish 2nd across heats. What made this run memorable was that the Indian quartet of Anas, Jacob, Ajmal & Ramesh went toe to toe with the USA relay team. India eventually finished 5th in finals.

Iss Baar 100 Par – Asian Games Record Haul

Few people believed in Sony Network’s war cry for 2023 Asian Games – Iss Baar 100 Par. But Indian athletes produced a phenomenal performance to win 107 medals – 28 Golds, 38 Silver and 41 Bronze. The whole campaign was littered with amazing moments for Sports fans – Neeraj & Kishore going toe to toe in Javelin Final, A Gold in Dressage, Chirag/Satwik wining Men’s Doubles Gold, Compound Archers sweeping Gold across events and so many more…

World Shooting Championships – Gold in 10m Mixed Air Pistol

Esha Singh & Shiva Narwal won India’s lone Gold at 2023 World Shooting Championships.

A Historic Performance by India Compound Archers

It would be an understatement to say that Indian Compound Archers were on fire in 2023. They just dominated all competitions they entered. Highlight of their performance came at the 2023 World Archery Championships where they won 3 Golds and 1 Bronze. Courtesy of their performance, India topped the medal table. Ojas won Men’s Individual Gold, Aditi won Women’s Individual Gold and Indian Women’s team comprising of Aditi, Jyothi and Parneet won Team Gold. Jyothi won Bronze in Women’s Individual event.

Indian Women’s Boxers Shine at World Championships

At the 2023 Women’s World Boxing Championships, 4 Indian Boxers became World Champions. India topped the medal tally courtesy this haul. Nitu Ghanghas, Nikhat Zareen, Lovlina Borgohain and Saweety Boora were the 4 Indian Boxers who won Gold.

Bhavani Devi creates more history!

Bhavani Devi is already a pioneer for Indian Fencing. In 2023, she went ahead and created more history by becoming the first Indian fencer to win a medal at Asian Championships. She won Bronze at 2023 Asian Championships held in China. On her way to the medal, she defeated the then reigning World Champion Misaki Emura.

Satwik & Chirag become World No. 1

Satwik & Chirag are a special pair. We knew it. In 2023, they again proved it by winning multiple events and scaling the feat of becoming World No. 1 in Men’s Doubles Ranking. Their summit to the top was aided by wins at Swiss Open, Asian Championships, Indonesia Open and Korea Open.

Indian Women Golfers on the rise!

Aditi Ashok was at it again in 2023. She again made Indians wake up early and watch Golf at the Asian Games. She ended up winning Silver. However, top performance in Golf came on the Ladies European Tour where Aditi won Kenyan Open and Diksha Dagar won Czech Ladies Open. Both Aditi and Diksha finished in top 5 on the 2023 Ladies European Tour season standings. A fantastic year for both of them.

However the highlight of the year was Aditi winning season ending Costa Del Sol tournament.

Ageless Rohan Bopanna

Rohan Bopanna, at 43 years young, was brilliant on the ATP tour in 2023.

Shafali Verma led India to a historic U-19 Women’s World Cup win in South Africa.

The King Delivers: Virat Kohli’s 50th ODI Century

We cannot close 2023 top sporting moments without mentioning Virat Kohli’s 50th ODI century. He broke Sachin’s record of 49 ODI centuries and became first batsman in the world to score 50 ODI tons. What made this moment special was that he did it in front of Sachin at his home ground Wankhede. Virat was superb throughout India’s run to the World Cup final.

Here’s hoping for more special moments in 2024!
