Sports Calendar: June 2022

We are in for a packed month of Sports action in June…Here are the events to look forward to.

Cricket

Indian Women’s team is set to tour Sri Lanka for 3 ODIs and 3 T20s in the build-up to Commonwealth Games. The ODI series is scheduled to start on 23rd June.

On the Men’s cricket team front, South Africa team is scheduled to tour India for 5 T20s. India will then travel to Ireland for 2 T20s later in the month. Here are the fixtures:

1st T20: IND v SA – 9 June
2nd T20: IND v SA – 12 June
3rd T20: IND v SA – 14 June
4th T20: IND v SA – 17 June
5th T20: IND v SA – 19 June

1st T20: IRE v IND – 26 June
2nd T20: IRE v IND – 28 June

Hockey

Both Men’s and Women’s FIH Pro League is going to conclude in June. India is in contention for the league title in both competitions.

Men’s FIH Pro League Fixtures:

Belgium v India – 11 June
Belgium v India – 12 June
Netherlands v India – 18 June
Netherlands v India – 19 June

India is currently on top of the table.

Football

The final qualification round for 2023 Men’s Football Asia Cup takes place in June. 24 teams are set to compete in 6 different groups. Top ranked team in each group along with 5 best second place finishes will earn a quota for 2023 Asia Cup. India is in group D along with Hong Kong, Afghanistan and Cambodia.

India v Hong Kong – 14 June

Badminton

The BWF World Tour moves to South East Asia with some marquee events lined up.

Indonesia Masters (BWF 500): 7-12 June
Indonesia Open (BWF 1000): 14-19 June
Malaysia Open (BWF 750): 28 June-3 July

Table Tennis

2 WTT Contender events are lined up in June.

WTT Contender Zagreb: 13-19 June
WTT Contender Lima: 13-19 June

Tennis

The grass court season will take place in June with the Wimbledon Championships starting on 27 June.

Swimming

The 2022 FINA World Championships will take place in Budapest between 18 June to 3 July.

Archery

The third Archery World Cup of the year is going to place in Paris between 21-26 June.

Shooting

Baku World Cup takes place between 28 May to 7 June. ISSF Shotgun Grand Prix is scheduled between 13-22 June in Turkey.

Golf

2 Women’s Golf majors are scheduled in June.

US Women’s Open: 2-5 June
Women’s PGA Championship: 23-26 June

In Men’s Golf, the third major of the year – US Open is scheduled to take place between 16-19 June.

Track Cycling

Asian Track Cycling Championships take place between 18-22 June in New Delhi.
