Here are the sports events to look forward to in December.
Badminton
2 big tournaments take place in December.
HSBC BWF World Tour Finals: 1-5 December
India will have representation in 4 out of 5 events at BWF World Tour Finals:
Men’s Singles: Kidambi Srikanth, Lakshya Sen
Women’s Singles: PV Sindhu
Men’s Doubles: Rankireedy/Shetty
Women’s Doubles: Ashwini/Sikki
BWF World Championships 2021: 12-19 December
PV Sindhu will be defending her World Title at the World Championships.

Hockey
Both Men & Women Asian Champions trophy will take place in December.
Asian Women’s Champions Trophy will be held in South Korea between 5-12 December. 6 teams are going to participate in the tournament – India, China, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand. After the round robin round, top 2 teams will qualify for Final. India’s group games are as follows:
5 Dec – India v Thailand
6 Dec – India v Malaysia
8 Dec – South Korea v India
9 Dec – China v India
11 Dec – India v Japan
Final is on 12th December.

Asian Men’s Champions Trophy will be held in Bangladesh between 14-22 December. 6 teams are going to participate in the tournament – India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea. After the round robin round, top 4 teams will qualify for Semis. India’s group games are as follows:
14 Dec – South Korea v India
15 Dec – India v Bangladesh
17 Dec – India v Pakistan
18 Dec – Malaysia v India
19 Dec – India v Japan
Weightlifting
World Weightlifting Championships 2021 will take place between 7-17 December in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Squash
Men’s World Squash Team Championship takes place in Malaysia between 7-17 December.
Cricket
India will finish their New Zealand series and then tour South Africa. The South Africa tour is now under scrutiny due to the new COVID variant Omicron. India tour of South Africa has 3 Tests, 3 ODIs and 4 T20s. BCCI has said that they will follow Indian government’s guidance before going ahead with tour.
3-7 December: 2nd Test India v New Zealand
17-21 December: 1st Test India v South Africa
26-30 December: 2nd Test India v South Africa
