Here are the sports events to look out for in the month of September…
Cricket
Women’s cricket team is back in action. Their tour of Australia starts on 19th September. They will play 3 ODIs, 3 T20s and 1 Test. Here are the matches scheduled in September:
21 Sept: 1st ODI – Australia v India – 5:30 AM
24 Sept: 2nd ODI – Australia v India – 10:40 AM
26 Sept: 3rd ODI – Australia v India – 5:30 AM
30 Sept – 3 Oct: D/N Test Match – Australia v India – 11:30 AM
Indian Men’s Cricket team will play final 2 tests against England. Then IPL 2021 season resumes.
2-6 September: 4th Test Match – England v India
10-14 September: 5th Test Match – England v India
IPL restart: 19th September onward
Football
Indian Men’s football team will play 2 friendlies against Nepal before next month’s SAFF Championship.
2 Sept: Nepal v India – 5:30 PM
5 Sept: Nepal v India – 5:30 PM
Tennis
The final Grand Slam of the year, US Open, takes place in New York. Indian doubles players will take part in the tournament. No Singles player qualified for the main draw.
US Open: 30 Aug – 12 Sept
After the US Open, Indian Men’s tennis players will play in Davis Cup World Group 1 qualifiers. The winner of this tie will play in Davis Cup 2022 final qualifiers.
Finland v India : 17-18 September
Badminton
2021 Sudirman Cup will take place between 26 September and 3 October in Finland.
Table Tennis
15-19 Sept: ITTF Kazakhstan International Open
20-25 Sept: WTT Star Contender Doha
28 Sept-5 Oct: Asian Table Tennis Championship
Cycling
Indian track cyclists will take part in UCI Track Cycling Nations Cup in Colombia between 9-12 September.
Shooting
ISSF Junior World Championship will take place from 26 September to 10 October in Peru.
Archery
19-26 Sept: World Archery Championships
29-30 Sept: 2021 Archery World Cup Final
Basketball
2021 Women’s Asia Cup takes place in Jordan between 27 September – 3 October.
Volleyball
12-19 Sept: 2021 Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship
