Rowing at the LA 2028 Olympics

Where will Rowing take place?

Rowing events for the LA28 Olympic Games will take place at Marine Stadium in Long Beach, California. The Coastal Rowing events will take place at the waterfront in Long Beach.

Dates for Competition:

15-25th July 2028

Events in Rowing at the LA Olympics: There will be a total of 15 medal events in Rowing. For the 1st time ever, coastal rowing is introduced as an event at the Olympics.

In traditional roing, we will have 12 events.

In coastal rowing, we will have 3 events.

Number of Quota Places:

A total of 438 athletes will compete in traditional rowing at the LA 2028 Olympics and 64 athletes will compete in coastal rowing. A nation can qualify a maximum of 1 boat in each category.

How to Qualify:

We will look at the qualification process for rowing and coastal rowing separately.

Qualification Process for Rowing:

Qualification quotas will be given through 5 routes:

  1. 2027 World Championships, 23-29 August
  2. World Rowing Continental Qualification Regattas
  3. World Rowing Final Qualification Regatta
  4. Host Country quota
  5. Universality Places quota

Qualification Process for Coastal Rowing:

Qualification quotas will be given through 4 routes:

  1. 2027 World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals, Portugal – 6 to 9 October
  2. Continental Qualification events
  3. Host Country quota
  4. Universality Places quota

Aa stands for accredited athlete places.

Indian Athletes’ Chance of Qualification:

India is not strong in Rowing. The chances of qualification will come through continental regattas or universality places only.
