Baseball & Softball at the LA 2028 Olympics

Where will Baseball and Softball take place?

Baseball will be held at the iconic Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. Softball will take place at Devon Park in Oklahoma City.

Dates for Competition:

Baseball will be held between 13th and 19th July 2028.

Softball will be held between 23rd and 29th July 2028.

Number of Quota Places:

In both Baseball and Softball, 6 teams will participate.

Baseball Qualification Process:

The 6 quotas will be given basis following:

Host Country Quota: USA, as the host country, qualifies directly.
World Baseball Classic, March 2026: The 2 highest ranked team from the Americas in the final standings of the World Baseball Classic qualify. Venezuela and the Dominican Republic have qualified through this route.
WBSC Premier12, November 2027: The highest-ranked team from Asia and the highest-ranked team from Europe or Oceania qualify through WBSC Premier12.
Final Qualification Event: One final qualification event will decide the final quota. 7 teams will participate in this event (2 from Asia, 2 from Africa, 2 from Europe and 1 from Oceania). This qualifier will take place before March 2028.

Softball Qualification Process:

The 6 quotas will be given basis following:

Host Country Quota: USA, as the host country, qualifies directly.
Women’s Softball World Cup Final: The highest placed team at the Women’s Softball World Cup qualifies for the Olympics.
Continental Qualification Events: A total of 3 quotas will be given at Continental qualification events (one combined event for Asia & Oceania, one combined event for Europe & Africa, one event for the Americas).
Final Qualification Event: One final qualification event will decide the final quota. 6 teams will participate in this event (2 from Asia/Oceania, 2 from Africa/Europe and 2 from the Americas. These teams will be decided through continental qualifiers themselves). This qualifier will take place before March 2028.

Indian Chance of qualification:

No chance of qualification. The Indian Softball team is ranked 51st in the World and 9th in Asia. The Indian Baseball team is ranked 64th in the World and 14th in Asia.
