Recently, 15 year old Linthoi Chanambam scripted history be becoming 1st Indian ever to win Gold at World Junior Judo Championship. Let us look at how qualification will work in Judo for 2024 Paris Olympics.

Judo at Paris Olympics will take place across 15 events – Men (7), Women (7) and Mixed (1).

Qualification System:
Individual Event: In individual men’s and women’s event, qualification will be based on World Ranking.
Here is how quotas will be allocated in each individual weight category:
Direct Qualification: Highest ranked 17 athletes as per World Ranking will directly get a quota subject to 1 quota per nation.
Continental Qualification: 50 quotas in each gender will be allocated basis highest ranked continental athletes. Only 1 continental quota can be allocated to a nation across all 14 Men’s and Women’s weight categories.

Team Quotas: 5 quotas will be given through team invitational places. In this allocation, nations who have already qualified 5 athletes across all weight categories, get 1 additional quota. This quota is given subject to 1 quota per continent.
Mixed Event: All nations who have 6 qualified athletes across below mentioned 6 weight categories can field a team in mixed event.

Qualification Timeline for World Ranking: 24 June 2022 – 23 June 2024
