- 2008 Beijing Olympics – 56 years after KD jadhav’s medal, Sushil Kumar wins a medal in Wrestling. He wins Bronze in Men’s 66 kg category.

- 2009 Australian Open: Sania Mirza becomes the 1st Indian Woman to win a Grand Slam. She wins 2009 Australian Open Mixed Doubles title with Mahesh Bhupathi.
