Where will Table Tennis take place?
Table Tennis will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center (Hall 3) in the downtown area.

Dates for Competition:
15-29th July 2028
Medal matches will be scheduled along the course.
Events in Table Tennis at the LA Olympics:
Table Tennis events have undergone a change as compared to the last Olympics. Instead of 5, there would be 6 events and the events have also changed.
6 events: Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles, Mixed Team
Earlier, there used to be a Men’s Team event and a Women’s Team event. The Mixed Team event is a new event in TT for the LA 2028 Olympics.
Number of Quota Places:
A total of 172 quotas will be allocated (86 Male and 86 Female).
A nation can have a maximum of 6 quotas (3 Male and 3 Female).

How to Qualify:
There are different qualification pathways for the 6 events. We check them one by one.
Mixed Team Event Qualification:
16 teams will qualify for Mixed Team event. Quotas will be available basis following pathways:
- Continental Qualification event: Winners of each of the 5 continental qualification events will secure a quota. These qualifiers will be held between June and October 2027.
- 2027 Mixed Team World Cup: The top 6 teams at the 2027 World Cup who have not yet qualified will receive a quota.
- World Ranking: 2 highest ranked teams who are yet to qualify will receive quotas. The cut-off for World Ranking will be January 2028.
- Host Country Quota: USA as the host country, will receive one quota.
- Other events player qualification quota: An additional two mixed teams from among the nations with the maximum number of players already qualified in either the singles, doubles, or mixed doubles will be allocated quota places.
Mixed Doubles Qualification:
16 pairs will qualify for the Mixed Doubles event. Quotas will be available basis following pathways:
- Continental Qualification event: Winners of each of the 5 continental qualification events will secure a quota. These qualifiers will be held between June 2027 and February 2028.
- World Ranking: The top 2 ranked teams who are yet to qualify will receive quotas basis World Ranking as on 13th March 2028.
- World Qualifier: The top 4 pairs who are yet to qualify will get a quota at the World Qualifier. This qualifier will be held between 15 Mar and 7 May 2028.
- Host Country: USA as host country, will get 1 quota.
- World Ranking Quota 2: To allocate the last 4 mixed doubles quota, nations that have 2 pairs in the Top 8 of the WR at the time of the allocation will receive a second quota place when all 4 athletes (2 doubles pairs) are among the 6 quota places (3 per gender) per NOC. If this is not the case, the quota place will go to the next mixed doubles pair. The additional mixed doubles pairs, from nations with at least one qualified male player in singles and at least one qualified female player in singles, will be allocated places. If there are fewer than four pairs that meet these criteria, additional pairs will be selected from among teams that have not qualified in mixed doubles.
For Men’s Doubles and Women’s Doubles qualification, the same 5 pathways will be there as Mixed Doubles. 16 pairs will qualify in each of the Men’s and Women’s Doubles qualifications.
Singles Qualification:
The singles tournament will feature 64 players in each of Men’s Singles and Women’s Singles. The following pathway is applicable for both Men’s and Women’s singles.
Quotas will be given through the following pathway:
- Mixed Team Quotas: Each of the 16 teams that have a quota in the mixed team event will get 2 singles quotas in each of Men’s and Women’s singles.
- Continental Quotas: 21 continental quotas (Africa – 4, Americas -4, Asia -6, Europe -6, Oceania – 1) will be given either through rankings or respective continental qualification event.
- World Ranking Quota: Up to 10 athletes will be allocated a quota place, either through the Singles World Ranking as of 5 June 2028, or where the athletes have already qualified in doubles only, subject in all cases to the maximum quota per NOC.
- Universality Place: 1 quota will be given through the universality places.
Indian Players to watch out for during qualification:
We can definitely watch out for Manav, Manush, Manika and Sreeja during the qualification cycle. Also, Diya/Manush as the Mixed Doubles pair.
