The 2026 Asian Games, officially known as Aichi–Nagoya 2026, is the 20th edition of Asia’s premier multi-sport event. It marks the first time in 32 years that Japan has hosted the Asian Games. The official motto of the 2026 Asian Games is “Imagine One Asia”.
Schedule
2026 Asian Games will be held between 19th September to 4th October.
Opening Ceremony: Saturday, 19 September 2026, 2:30 PM IST
Closing Ceremony: Sunday, 4 October 2026, 2:30 PM IST
Competition Dates: Some events begin as early as 10 September, ahead of the Opening Ceremony. Here is a snapshot of the schedule:

Host City and Venues
The Games are being co-hosted by Aichi Prefecture and its capital, Nagoya, with the main venue at Paloma Mizuho Stadium (also referred to as Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium). Competition venues are spread across the Aichi-Nagoya region.
Who is participating?
Around 45 Nations from across Asia are expected to send around 11,000 athletes to compete. The 2026 Asian Games feature:
- 43 sports
- 71 disciplines
- 469 medal events
This blend includes core Olympic sports and regionally popular disciplines.

The Athletes Village!
In a very unique solution to manage costs, Japan has arranged for athletes’ accommodation in a floating village outside Aichi. The floating village will consist of cruise ships and converted shipping containers.
