Before we get into sports action lined up for October, here are key highlights from Septmeber:
- Hockey: Indian Men’s team won Asia Cup 2025 and qualified for 2026 Hockey World Cup. Indian Women’s team fell short in the final and finished runners-up.

Cricket
First of all cricket and we have a home Cricket ODI World Cup for Women.
2025 ODI Cricket World Cup: 30 Sept – 2 Nov
Venue: India & Sri Lanka
Format: 8 teams play a round-robin group stage -> Top 4 qualify for Semis -> Final

30 Sept: India v Sri Lanka – Guwahati 3 PM
5 Oct: India v Pakistan – Colombo 3 PM
9 Oct: India v South Africa – Vishakhapatnam 3 PM
12 Oct: India v Australia – Vishakhapatnam 3 PM
19 Oct: India v England – Indore 3 PM
23 Oct: India v New Zealand – Navi Mumbai 3 PM
26 Oct: India v Bangladesh – Navi Mumbai 3 PM
Semis scheduled on 29 and 30 October. Final on 2nd November.

On the Men’s Cricket front, India will continue their WTC 2027 campaign with a 2 Test series against West Indies at home.
1st Test: India v West Indies 2-6 Oct Ahmedabad
2nd Test: India v West Indies 10-14 Oct New Delhi
Post this series, India will travel to Australia for 3 ODIs and 5 T20s.

The BWF World Tour will be in Europe this month.

Apart from this, India will be hosting ITTF Asian Team Championships between 11-15 October.

India will be hosting a WTA 250 event in Chennai.
27 Oct – 2 Nov: Chennai Open (WTA 250)
Weightlifting
2025 World Weightlifting Championships will take place in Norway betwee 2-11 October.
Shooting
2025 World Shotgun Championships will take place in Athens, Greece between 10-18 October.
Archery
The 2025 World Cup final will take place in China between 17-19 October.
Track Cycling
The 2025 Track Cycling World Championships will take place in Chile between 15-19 October.
Gymnastics
2025 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships will take place in Indonesia between 19-25 October.
Baseball
2025 Women’s Baseball Asia Cup is scheduled to take place in China between 26 Oct – 1 Nov. India is one of the qualified 10 teams for this event.
Golf
India will be hosting Ladies European tour in Delhi.
9-12 Oct: Hero Women’s Indian Open
On the Men’s European tour, India will be hosting DP World India Championships.
16-19 Oct: DP World India Championships
Football
Indian Men’s football team is scheduled to play 2 games for 2027 Asia Cup third qualifiers.
9 Oct – Singapore v India (5 PM)
14 Oct – India v Singapore (7:30 PM)
Both games are extremely crucial for India since they are currently placed 4th after 2 games. Only the group winner will qualify for Asia Cup.
On the Women’s football front, India will play a frinedly against Nepal on 26th October.
Aquatics
India is also hosting 2025 Asian Aquatics Championships in Ahmedabad between 28 Sept – 10 Oct.
